A Week in My Life
Design
Data Visualization
Background
There are many repetitive events and routines happening in our daily lives. These things are so obvious and ordinary that if not paying attention, it is difficult for us to notice. What would it be like if to record and visualize those routines? What kind of information and image will this data present to us?
Concept & Solution
As a design student, critique is an important part of my everyday life. Although I make notes every time, I seldom pay attention to the nuances of the way I talk about my work. Being curious, I recorded myself for a month and typed out the recordings. After analyzing the data, I found three main features of my way of speaking: constantly using fillers (such as um), ending with ascending tone, and frequently breaking sentences. Based on the discovery, I want to design a pair of posters visualizing a double-layered self-portrait. The white one shows how I sound like on the outside whereas the black one illustrates how I feel when talking on the inside.
